Meet Our Principal
Beth Powell
Ms. Powell brings 35 years of experience in education and curriculum design to the American International School of Excellence. A passionate mathematics educator, she holds a BA in Math from SJSU and a master’s in Transformative Leadership, with a focus on equitable and innovative math instruction. She is featured in Jo Boaler’s book Limitless Minds for her impact in mathematics education. During her 10 years at My City School in San Francisco, Beth developed a data-driven, standards-based curriculum that helped middle-school students with learning disabilities close significant learning gaps. She has also taught graduate-level courses at UCSC Extension and regularly speaks at national and international education conferences.

Meet Our Senior Strategic Advisor
Dr. Lunell Haught
Dr. Haught is a leadership scholar and organizational consultant who teaches in Gonzaga University’s PhD and Master’s programs in Leadership. A Certified Management Consultant (CMC), she specializes in organizational change, governance, and multi-agency collaboration across nonprofit and for-profit sectors. She is President Emeritus of the League of Women Voters of Washington and brings decades of civic and international education leadership. Her work has shaped high-impact organizations, executive decision-making, and institutional transformation across the U.S. and globally. She is widely respected for turning complex challenges into clear, ethical, and sustainable leadership solutions.

Meet Our Vice Principal
Dr. Sarah AK Ahmed
Dr. Sarah is a globally recognized humanitarian, educator, and peacemaker with over a decade of experience advancing education, economic empowerment, and peacebuilding for women, youth, and displaced communities. She currently serves as Vice Principal and Education Business Development Consultant at AISE School, supporting innovative, mission-driven education models with a strong focus on access, quality, sustainability, and systems leadership.
She has held senior leadership roles across major international organizations, overseeing multi-million-dollar programs in social cohesion, livelihoods, trauma recovery, and youth leadership in fragile and post-conflict contexts. A recipient of the 2017 Tanenbaum Peacemaker in Action Award and other international honors, Dr. Ahmed remains deeply committed to education as a tool for dignity, resilience, and long-term leadership development.
